Africa Shox analysis unfinished

Africa Shox by Leftfield has an amzing music video, which is jam pack full of subliminal mesages of political un rest aswell as various elements that appeal to listeners of the techno genre. Due to the mise en scene it is clear that the video is aimed at a more sophisticated and somewhat older , mature audience. Elements such as the metaphorical portrayal of the black slaves once brought over to America ;and are now forgotten , is demonstrated by the character of the black slave physically crumbling throughout the video, also conoting he doesn't fit in with modern society, and the fact that no one in the video offers to help him when in need also suggests this.

The city setting gives the video a 'concrete jungle' effect, which is very relavent in terms of the birth of the techno genre. As it was founded in the urban areas.

  1. Jono you need to develop your analysis of this iconic music video. Particularly with regard to your production because the hard shapes and metallic pallet strongly communicate genre characteristics. You have worksheets I've given you - I strongly suggest you develop an analysis structured in the way I've suggested.
